Hand-built coiled pot, almost circular foot marked with concave radial flutes, globular body slightly flattened, pronounced vertical groove on either side, wide mouth, thin rim cut on a slant and halves joined to give a stepped rim. Finely textured body, matt black interior, exterior painted with a bold matt black and matt white geometric design of misaligned curves. Brown bleed around edges of white curves.

Britains biggest anti-Vietnam war demonstration ended in London with an estimated 300 arrests; 86 people were treated for injuries, and 50, including 25 policemen, one with a serious spine injury, were taken to hospital. The Guardian suggested demonstrators seemed determined to stay until they had provoked a violent response of some sort, and this intention became paramount once they entered Grosvenor Square. 1968.
